A few months ago, we helped an 80+ Customer make their home safer. We installed grab bars, modified the bathroom with Anti Skid Tiles, and made several changes to reduce fall risk.

Yesterday, he fell, fractured his hip, and underwent a surgery .

Today, his family is arranging a hospital bed, an electric recliner, diapers, and full-time support at home.

It was a difficult reminder: Home modifications reduce risk. They don't eliminate it.

There comes a stage when even the safest home and the best mobility aids may not be enough. When standing up, walking to the bathroom, or reaching for something becomes difficult, it may be time to consider a full-time caregiver or attendant.

Families often wait for a major fall before making that decision.

Unfortunately, one fall can change everything mobility, independence, confidence, and quality of life.

If you notice frequent imbalance, increasing weakness, difficulty getting up from a chair, or needing more help with everyday activities, don't ignore those signs.

Sometimes the safest decision isn't another grab bar or another piece of equipment.

It's making sure someone is there.

Safety equipment is only one layer of protection. Recognizing when a senior needs supervision and assistance is equally important.
